Future plans for this week!

7/1/11 (tmrw)
  • call up Central Library and Brie
  • go to another library
  • email the parks (Kissena, Cunningham, Bayside, Alley Pond Environmental Center)
  • plan out rough outlines of workshop and presentation

UPDATES :D

I need to learn to update every time something happens. Anyways.

6/23/11
I went to Manhattan to meet with my Columbia mentor, Ranjith. He said that he'll be around for the summer (yay!) and I hope that he can give me good feedback on my powerpoints and workshop ideas :)

6/24/11
I had a meeting with my two project advisors, Pauline and Lien Ling. We met at Lien Ling's house. I showed them my plan (in the previous posts) and explained them in a little more detail. The meeting was pretty fast (only around 30 min) b/c I basically had everything down. They just advised me to get waivers/contracts(?) in case something happened.

6/25/11
I went to the Fresh Meadows library and asked them about booking a room. The person I'm supposed to see, Jillian (childrens coordinator) told me to type up a proposal first and then give it to her.

6/28/11
I wrote the proposal.

6/30/11 (today)
I went to Central Library in Jamaica today. Unfortunately, the people that I needed to talk to (supervisors) were done for the day, even though the library closes at 9. But instead, I talked to this really nice librarian named Brie, and she said that she'll definitely contact me back! ^___^

062111 (Tues)

  • made a plan! see previous post.
  • emailed Lien Ling and Pauline and asked for a meeting on Friday to discuss my plans.
  • called the head of all queens libraries, and got directed to the programs director. she told me the process to book a room in each branch; it was simpler than I expected! I just have to go to the branches and ask for a room... LOLOL.
